STEP BACK IN TIME AND HISTORY!
THE RENAISSANCE COMES ALIVE!

Hail Good Lords and Ladies, join us for The North Carolina Renaissance Faire's "RENAISSANCE RALLY" at the NC State Fairgrounds in Raleigh. This is a Special Production for students and educators, featuring the pageantry of Queen Elizabeth I and her court. Performing artists demonstrate music, theatre and acrobatics from the time period. The show culminates in a demonstration of European martial arts (sword fighting) and a FULL CONTACT JOUST! Students will encounter the flavor of the Renaissance and be transported through time as they experience our historically based stage production. Concepts are presented in an interactive theatrical format, reaching students with many different learning styles. Student representatives from each school participate in the program as members of the Queen's guard and as part of the demonstration of courtly dancing. Meet Queen Elizabeth I who will preside at the joust. One Lucky Class of up to 200 will win an audience with the Queen.

The "Renaissance Rally" is presented by The Historical Enrichment Society. In 2008 we are revising the presentation to incorporate more of the NC DPI Curriculum. We invite Educators and Students to experience this incredible era in an educational, entertaining and interesting medium. The North Carolina Renaissance Faire annual weekend event dates will be announced and we hope you'll encourage your students and teachers to return for a fuller, more complete experience.

We encourage you to visit the teacher's guide on our website found in our links to the left. Included are activities and resources teachers can use in the classroom to enhance the educational impact of the Renaissance Rally. Although we have targeted mainly Sixth Grade Social Studies Departments, our offer is open to ALL students and grades interested in the Medieval/Renaissance era and is appropriate for a variety of age groups and learning levels. Please feel free to make copies of this Registration Application for other interested teachers in related Departments, which may include English, Drama, Art or Music.
